Nordic Design for Children
A new exhibition opens at the Museum on 30 March, Century of the Child: Nordic Design for Children 1900 to Today. Featuring some of the 20th century’s most iconic and influential Nordic designs for children, from BRIO to LEGO, Marimekko and the Moomins, brought together for the first time in this stunning new display.
Century of the Child: Nordic Design for Children 1900 to Today explores the influences which have helped forge Nordic design and examines how children have inspired some of the century’s most progressive designs, architecture and literature. In celebration of children’s creative freedom, there is a host of Nordic inspired interactives for families to explore and enjoy.
During the Easter holidays (3 -13 April) there will be free drop-in activities and workshops inspired by nature. Using the colours and shapes of flowers and plants, children will be able to explore different natural materials for crafts and enjoy folk stories from Nordic countries. Workshops include Pattern Print and Clayworld.
On Saturday 21 April visit the Museum for a day of English merriment to celebrate St George. Enjoy live song and dance traditions, storytelling, games, arts & craft activities.
